Meet Mocha

This adorable little gal is Mocha! She is an optimistic and pretty level-headed pup, which is impressive given her past was not the best. But her love for people has not dimmed. Mocha has yet to meet a stranger and she really enjoys the company of humans. She’s not so sure about other dogs…we’ve introduced her to a few and she seems a little worried and not at all playful. We suspect she could live with the right canine companion but could also be happy as a solo dog. We think Mocha may be part Chocolate Lab and part Heeler, and is the best of both worlds - pretty resilient and happy but sensitive, too. Mocha is a tidy athletic package and could make a great active outdoor adventure sidekick but she also doesn’t seem over the top energy-wise or overexuberant. She’s bright and eager to learn and has just begun her basic manners education at the shelter. She will need an adopter who will work on continuing her education and who will work to build her confidence out in the world, too - she can be just a smidge tentative sometimes. But this girl is really filled with potential and is going to make a devoted and lovely companion to some lucky person!
Please read entire posting for information on our new procedures. We are currently requiring appointments for all adoptions. Please give us a call if you questions about a pet or complete an application at https://adoptmountainpets.org/pet-services/adoption-process/application-form to make arrangements to visit the Animal Resource Center.

Adopters will be considered on the totality of the application and how it matches the particular pet's needs.

Most dogs who come from the shelter will not be house trained.

We do not know or make guarantees that a dog or cat will do well with all children, other animals or is house-trained.

We will need to talk to all of the adults in the home prior to making an appointment to visit with a pet.

In most cases its necessary to to have family dogs come into meet your potential adoptee. Please be sure your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on vaccines (distemper - parvo and rabies) before bringing them for a meeting.

All dogs must be transported home in a travel crate to transport your new pup home safely.

Renters must provide a copy of a lease indicating pets are allowed or contact information for the landlord.
