Meet Moby
Moby is located in TEXAS and is available for local adoption or adoption and transport to another state. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down here, so he is willing to relocate to a good, loving, forever home.
Moby has been with our rescue since the day he was born. He is now going on two years of age, and he and his brother Turk are still waiting for their forever homes. Mom and his other siblings have all been adopted. Their mother Pearl was surrendered by her owner, who allowed Pearl to get pregnant, waited too long before she tried to get her fixed, and then wanted to get rid of her before she had the puppies. Pearl is a terrier mix and the father(s) are unknown, Pearl's DNA test came back as a mixture of 14 different breeds, with only 20% American Staffordshire Terrier.
Moby is white with dark grey markings and beautiful hazel eyes. He was one of the larger pups in the litter and he now weighs around 60 pounds. Moby is a very sweet and gentle boy. He likes toys, treats, and playing with other gentle dogs. Moby loves water and was the first one in the wading pool. He loves human attention. Moby is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He needs more work with housetraining as he will potty inside if he cannot get out when he needs to.
Moby needed to be adopted when he was still a puppy, but that did not happen. He is a good boy but we failed him in that we were not able to give him a lot of additional socialization. He is good at meeting new people but gets scared of sketchy-looking inanimate objects. For example, we put a crate outside in the sun to dry. It was something new that had not been there before, so he woofed and would not go anywhere near it for a while. An agility course may be a good confidence-building tool for this boy. We are also working on manners in terms of not taking treats and toys away from the smaller dogs. We know this is a big ask, but we are looking for an individual or couple that can work with him and give him the forever home he deserves. Moby must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play.
Moby is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He is negative for heartworms and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Moby has a $150.00 local adoption fee. His out-of-state adoption fee is $400.00 and includes the cost of ground transport to the northeast, pacific northwest, or Toronto Canada. He is being fostered in Texas and we do not have the resources to send him north until after he is adopted.
