Since arriving at SCCR, Mitchell has shown steady progress. A former stray who likely endured some serious hardship, Mitchell came to us scared of everything. With time, this sweet little man (around 10 pounds) is starting to come out of his shell as he gets a taste of the good life. He’s gone from terrified and reserved to sweet and playful and wanting to sleep squished to your side.

While Mitchell is okay on walks or out in the yard when you’re near, he’s also perfectly content staying inside, preferring his pee pads in the house to stepping out in the yard. For that reason, potty training has been a slow and steady work in progress. When Mitchell gets scared, he sometimes goes into a submissive pose and pees, so he will need an adopter who understands his fears and who is willing to take their time working with him.

Once Mitchell knows and trusts you, he will show you all the love, wanting to be your forever companion and wanting to snuggle all the time. New visitors, however, make him nervous at first meeting, leading him to run away or sometimes even nip at them out of fear. Mitchell will need very slow introductions to help calm his fear of being approached.

While Mitchell may be a work in progress, he has certainly demonstrated that once you have his trust, you will also have all his love. Are you ready to show this boy that life can be less scary and more rewarding?
