Meet Mister

Mister is a special boy. He is about 10 months old and weighs 40 lbs. He found himself at a kill shelter after his owner died. The shelter staff begged me to save him. He is the bestest boy but he needs a home that will help him learn some things. He is absolutely perfect with humans. He loves to be petted, loves walks, follows me everywhere, comes when I whistle. He is a pro at using chop sticks ;-) It appears that he has not had much exposure to other animals in the past though. He has been great with the dogs here and has been curiously sniffing the cats but every once in a while he gets all puffed up around other male dogs. He is very submissive with me so it's very easy to shut it down with just a stern voice command and he doesn't fight, he just gets dominant and wants to show that he is boss. So his ideal home would have a (dominant) female dog that would show him that he's not the boss. Or no other dogs in the home but exposure to other dogs so he can continue to learn. To be clear, he is around all the dogs at the rescue right now, they run around all day and play and he is fine, he hasn't hurt anyone, but he needs a home that will be aware of this and be willing to continue working with him and show him that that there's no need to be defensive with any dogs. He is such a happy, loving boy, it would be a shame if he didn't find a home.

He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found.

Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays.
