Meet Miriam
At 5 years old and 35 pounds, Miriam is a force to be reckoned with. Her favorite thing in the world is giving kisses and getting belly rubs, and her least favorite thing is thunder, lightning and rain. When it starts to thunder and rain, she likes to go and hide and stay away from it all. We get it!
Miriam does great with slow introductions to new people, places and things, but once she knows them, she’s a champ. She can get a little bit anxious with a lot of comings and goings, so a quiet house with a yard would be best for Miriam. She does however like to stay busy, so games and things like lick mats would be great for her!
She does great in her kennel, but is also great staying out for periods of time left alone. Once you’re back home, she loves to play. She has a lot of energy left in her. She gets very excited when you bring out her leash to show her that it’s time for a walk! Sometimes walking in new areas can be overwhelming and she’ll stay where it’s comfortable for a bit, but eventually she warms up to the idea of going on longer walks. She really can walk for quite some time!
She can get a little bit protective in her kennel with new people, so meeting them, and also new animals, on a leash in a neutral area is great for Miriam. She would do best in a house without cats. But another dog friend could be great with a proper introduction.
She’s the sweetest girl and will give you all of the love in the world. If she could just lounge and get belly rubs and give kisses in exchange, she would do that for eternity.
This dog is ready for her forever home!

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt
**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.
2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250
*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq
*Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
