Mipha's Story
A059056 Mipha, spayed female Alaskan Husky mix, est. 2 years, 46 pounds
Contact : Calaveras County Animal Services (209) 754-6509
or animal@calaverascounty.gov

The name Mipha (pronounced "mee'-fah") seems to have its origins in the Legend of Zelda game series, with a meaning that is both musical, being derived from the musical notes 'mi' and 'fa', as well as being associated with grace and water. Whoever owned Mipha before she came to us certainly named her aptly.

For one thing, not all Huskies like water, but Mipha beelines right for the play area pools and lays down. And grace? Oh yeah, this lady has got it going on with her elegant, athletic carriage and supermodel looks, including her arresting eyes, one blue and one brown. So far, we have not heard her sing the song of her people; in fact, she's rather quiet. But who knows? Perhaps she's a diva-tastic singer, too, and just hasn't been inspired yet.

Mipha is fairly tidy in her kennel and may have some housetraining, though we of course can't make guarantees. She sits sweetly for treats and is very friendly and relational with all humans. She enjoys being brushed. As with many Huskies, she has a high prey drive; we have observed her to chase birds. We don't have an office cat at the moment with whom to test dogs, so no details on her attitude toward cats at this time.

Mipha does want to meet all the dogs she comes across and gets along with nearly all of them, with the exception of one or two grouchy, dominant females. She will likely thrive in a home with another doggo friend to romp with. Mipha does like hugs, and will jump up to get them, so a home with no small children may be best. Mipha will benefit from leash training, as well. Was she a sled dog in a former life? We are working to decrease her desire to pull; she is willing to learn and with time we don't doubt she'll do well.

Mipha was found wandering the roadways near Campo Seco. She has a chip (that's how we know her name) but attempts to contact her prior owners were unsuccessful. She's been posted on social media as well, with no luck. We're sad to think that her prior owners, who must have been gamers who named her after a favored character, have lost their beautiful girl. Don't worry, Mipha, we'll find you a home in which to blossom into your best self!

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
