Meet Minnie

From Minnie’s foster mom;

Minnie is a 7-year-old, 15lb, Miniature Pinscher mix who is an angel that came straight from heaven! She is the sweetest little girl with an adorable deer-like stature. Minnie has never met a stranger and she is instantly buddies with everyone. At home she is very calm and cuddly- she loves to hang out and snuggle, but she’s content to lay by herself and chew on her nylabone or nap if you are busy. She is also pretty quiet for a little dog! She doesn’t bark very often- usually only if my dog starts it- but as soon as you call her name she stops!

Minnie seems to have been very well-socialized! She is very cat friendly- from day one she has mostly ignored my cats other than some occasional sniffing, and they have been very comfortable with her around (one of my cats even gave her a loving nudge the other day!). She has gotten along fantastically with my 8lb dog- they occasionally engage in light play, but mostly like to lay close to each other. She’s been introduced to bigger dogs and when they left her alone she was fine. In general, she gets a little worked up when she sees other dogs, but this appears to be excitement as she calms down as soon as she meets them.

She was surrendered to her vet’s office about a year ago as her family was unable to afford her medical care. Minnie has diabetes as a result of a severe case of pancreatitis- she is very healthy now and her diabetes is well-managed. She gets insulin twice a day. She sits in my lap when its time to give it to her and she gives me a kiss when we are done! She also eats a prescription diet which she is very good about gobbling up.

I do not have a fenced-in yard, but she has been fine with going out regularly to potty outside on a leash and we walk at least 1 mile every day with my dog. She loves walking and is very interested in smelling everything and hunting down squirrels! She pulls a little on walks but is so small it is not a problem. She has excellent recall in the house, and she knows the command “sit.” She can jump fairly high but has not jumped my tall baby gate.

She does well in the car, but wants to be on someone's lap the whole time, so for safety I buckle her in the backseat with a dog seatbelt.

She is now all ready to move from her current loving home to her next one.

Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! ***

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs.
• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
