Meet Minnie! She's a 46 pound short stack of fun. She loves other dogs and currently lives with 3 other large dogs in her foster home. She also loves toys and bones and plays with them with her human or all on her own. She's crate trained and potty trained. She rides well in the car. No kitty cats for Minnie, they are too fun to chase!
Minnie is currently in foster care. She's very sweet and wiggly to people that she knows. She keeps her foster mom and dad entertained with her hilarity and she loves being touched and loved by them. But she's been adopted and returned twice for aggression issues with humans. Minnie is fearful of strangers. She's looking for a special home that understands her and is willing to work with her using positive reinforcement training.
Minnie does not like meeting new people, and she doesn't want to interact with them, Even so, during her time at the shelter she made many human friends. Lots of staff and volunteers are in her 'inner circle' and she is delighted to see and interact with them. But new people are very difficult for her and she needs time and patience to make new friends. The good news is, once you're in, you're in! Then you get to see her playful and adorable side.
Because of her opinions on stranger danger, Minnie needs a home with no kids. She is a homebody and would like her family to be homebodies too. She's fine chilling in her crate with a peanut butter Kong and a bone at home while you're out running your errands. She needs a home where there are few visitors. She needs people that will crate her in a separate room when visitors come over. She'll need a dog savvy adopter that's willing to manage her behavior when she goes out in public. She can be reactive with too much stimulation when she's out and about. She needs a fenced yard where she can do her business and be enriched without having to leave her home. Already got a confident dog that loves visitors? Maybe he/she would be a great mentor dog for Minnie. She would love a playful canine friend in her new home to show her the ropes.
Are you the family willing to work with Minnie, earn her trust and be her forever family? Her foster family and other volunteers are willing to help pay costs for a professional trainer to help her new family understand how best to address Minnie's needs.
