Meet Minna

Sit back and relax, and read the story about Minna:

It was Oct 18th at 7:55 pm , I get a message. “I need you to think with me” My response. “What we thinking about” Little did I know in the next few sentences my life, my purpose, my goals, my knowledge were all going to grow.

I get sent a video of a beautifully damaged and disgarded baby girl. The conversation continues and then ends. I stayed up, researching, brain churning, can I do this? At 10:25 pm “ You probably asleep. It’s a girl. I want to rehab her. I want to call her Minna”

And Minna’s Story begins.

Oct 20th as soon as we got up, my husband and I went and picked her up. She was unsure, skittish, scared, inquisitive. She wouldn’t take treats from our hands. Minna was covered in scabs, eyes full of kook, so skinny she was weak, but looked at us like she was thankful and full of hope.

All I know is she was around this neighborhood for weeks. I think I heard that she eventually ended up on someone’s porch and ACO was finally able to get her because the home owners called because “they didn’t want her to die on their porch.” I don’t know how true that is. I do speculate she has been on her own for months, she had no meat on her bones, she ate like she didn’t know when she would get her next meal, she drank her water all gone, she was so weak that she walked in small doses.

For the first week she never left her crate unless I picked her up to bathe her. I would then cuddle her after bath just showing her the love she deserved all along. Then lovingly take her back to her safe place where she would gladly curl back up.

I will never forget the moment I finally got her to play with a toy, a stuffed candy cane, I threw it and she slowly pranced after it. She picked it up and took it back to her safe place and nibbled at it. At that moment I knew she was going to be ok, Minna was learning that she was safe, she was loved, and she would never have to worry about life anymore.

It is so hard to believe this beautiful, brave, resilient, precious girl has only been in my life for a little over 3 weeks.

In 3 weeks’ time Minna has

?Healed from Mange

?Grew facial/body hair where there was none (still has some growing to do)

?Gained weight

?Regained trust in humans

?Learned to play with toys(she loves her octopus and stuffed balls)

?Played with ALL 4 of her foster brothers and sisters

?Learned not to potty in her crate

?Walked around and played indoors like a real puppy should

?Gave kisses and snuggles

?Learned to run and play

?Starting to learn “sit”

?Stolen this foster mom’s heart

In life we all have different goals and on our own journeys to whatever gives us happiness. I definitely struggle with that more lately. Seeking appreciation and love in a world that can be harsh and cruel. I think that is why I love dogs. And I think that is why I needed Minna and Minna needed me.

But now Minna needs a forever family so that I can open my home to the next dog that needs help. Minna is special, and if you have been searching for a special dog to teach you love and appreciation. Minna is your girl.

Her spay is scheduled for Dec 10th
