Minka Siberian Husky Mix Oklahoma City, OK

Meet Minka, an almost 2 year old shepherd/husky mix who became a Misfit when she was found along a country road in very poor condition. This pet is spayed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped!

Minka is a super special lady! When she became a misfit, we really had no idea what the future would hold for her. She had so much fluid on her brain that her head was large and super soft to the touch. It was immediately obvious that Minka had hydrocephalus and needed meds quickly. As you can tell from her picture, Minka responded amazingly to her meds! The fluid on her brain came down so much that she was actually able to come off the med for it and has not had to go back on it. Minka loves life and lives to play with her foster siblings! She loves being outside and running around the backyard. Hydrocephalus also caused her to go blind, but that does not slow her down.

She will never be cured of hydrocephalus, but she is living proof that dogs can live happy lives with the condition. She is currently on two meds to help with her seizures. She has been in her foster home since March 2021. Minka struggles with strong weather fronts and that’s when she suffers most of her seizures, and she’s overall just more unsettled during those times. Minka would love to find a home that accepts her and her condition and welcomes her as a part of the family. Unfortunately, most dogs with hydrocephalus are tough to potty train, but with Minka loving to spend time outside, it really hasn’t been an issue in her foster home. She struggles to understand a lot of commands, but she does come when called and knows when it’s time for her medications.

She has overcome so much in her life and she deserves the very best family!
