Mini Ace's Story

(Halloween photos courtesy: T.D McLellan (@tdmclellan)

Given a dat of birth of: Jan 8, 2024, Mini Ace is the greatest, sweetest little dog.

Mini Ace was found as a stray and landed himself in a Canadian shelter. Super scary place for a little dog that's only 8 pounds.

He had extra medical costs the shelter couldn't take on, so he was transferred to Mattie's Place; 1 testicle in his abdomen, so a more difficult and costly neuter and baby teeth that didn't fall out when they should have, so a dental was also needed to remove those baby teeth.

Mini Ace is super velcro and loves to be with his people. He doesn't have separation anxiety but he does sit by the front door the entire time his foster is at work, waiting for her return. So with that, a work from home, take your dog to work or home most often adopter is his best match.

I'm not sure what breed mix Mini Ace is, but presumably Mini Dachshund & Miniature Pinscher. But I can't be certain at all.

Mini Ace would prefer to be a solo dog. He's fine with other dogs but they certainly aren't his jam and he loves to just hang with his people around the clock. Cats are likely okay but he's not officially cat tested, but I can't see him having an issue with any animal.

No kids under 13 years old. I just don't think it's his vibe. Can he hang with visiting kids? Absolutely! Would he love living with them everyday? I don't think so.

He's being fostered downtown Toronto in a condo and he's doing well but not great when he has to venture outside. It's too busy and loud for him, so a quieter neighbourhood and a secured backyard would be absolutely perfect for this pint sized pooch.

Mini Ace is an amazing dog if you like more needy dogs that just want to love on you and receive loads of love back on the daily - 24/7 if possible. If you're looking for a more independent dogs, Mini Ace isn't that guy. He does not understand personal space and will invade yours continually.

But if you're all about canine cuddles - he's your guy!

FROM THE FOSTER:

Mini Ace is a delightful little dog. He's a bit cautious when meeting new people but warms up quickly to everyone. He loves attention and he will spend most of his day as close to you as possible. He currently doesn't know any commands but he is overall a very gentle, quiet, and well behaved dog. He doesn't show much interest in other dogs, he will greet other dogs very politely and then be on his way. He isn't a fan of dogs that are too excitable and will try to run away from them if they invade his personal space too much.

Mini Ace has a couple of naughty behaviours that will need to be worked on - as he was just recently neutered, he is occasionally still marking inside, however 9 times out of 10 he uses a pee pad inside. If he feels he's not getting enough attention he will find some way to rectify the situation, usually by absconding with a shoe or two and having a taste of the laces.

His current routine - morning potty break around 6:30-7 am (although he would probably like to sleep in a bit more), followed by breakfast which he usually only eats a bit of and will finish the rest later. Potty break around noon, then some time at the park around 5 pm. He likes being at the park (prefers to potty on grass), however in the busy downtown Toronto core he's a bit overwhelmed if it is too loud, after all he's just a little guy! Anytime he's outside and it's time to go home, he is very happy to move his little legs as fast as possible to get back to his comfy safe space. Dinner around 6, then another potty break around 10 pm before bed.

Throughout the day he sleeps (always close to you) or will follow you around with whatever you might be doing. When he settles in he will start to get zoomies and will gently play with some toys. At night, he would be most happy sleeping in the bed with you and if he wants to be extra cozy he'll go under the covers.

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.
