Meet Mingo! This adorably cute little 7-lb wire-haired Chihuahua is estimated to be around two years old. Through no fault of his own, poor Mingo has already lost three homes and he sure would like his next home to be his last home! Mingo's first owner passed away, his second home was not safe for him, and his third owner couldn't afford the pet fee and pet rent charged by her landlord. It broke her heart to give up Mingo and we promised her we'd find him a wonderful home where he could finally feel safe and permanent. We were told that Mingo goes to the door when he has to potty but will have the occasional accident; is excellent in the car; doesn't chew; is used to sleeping in a carrier at night and when left home alone; is good with older, well-behaved children; is afraid of brooms, mops, and unexpected loud noises; is good with cats and other similar-sized dogs but is afraid of larger dogs; and loves to sit on laps. Mingo has been very well-mannered here and, while he's very high energy, we have no doubt that he'll make an excellent and devoted buddy for some lucky person/couple. Because of his small stature, any children who live in or frequently visit Mingo's prospective home must be old enough to handle him responsibly and dog-savvy enough to pick up his cues if he's feeling uncomfortable or doesn't want to be bothered. Although Mingo doesn't appear to be a 'nuisance' barker, he does bark when he's lonely or excited. Because of this, he would not be an appropriate choice for an apartment or condo dweller. To find out if sweet little Mingo would be a good fit for you and your household, just stop by the shelter and ask to meet him.
