Milo Tosa Inu Mix Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Milo, a handsome, big one-year-old Tosa Inu type dog who weighs about 88 pounds. I'm looking for a foster or adoption family to complete my recovery in a loving home!

I was rescued by Humane Society International / Canada from the dog meat trade in South Korea. There I spent my entire life outside in a small rusty metal cage, for the purpose of one day being slaughtered for food.

I was lucky enough to be rescued in time from this terrible fate and come to the HSI Trauma Rehabilitation Centre to start my new life. If you want to see my rescue or understand what I went through, check out their social media and website.

Unfortunately, I never received good care before and had to have major surgery with specialists to allow me to walk normally. Now I'm getting better and would like to continue my recovery in the comfort of a home.

As for learning, I still have a long way to go. I'm already making good progress at the HSI/Canada Trauma Rehabilitation Centre and every day I'm showing my great resilience and beginning to trust humans. I'm looking for a home that understands that it will take me a few months to feel comfortable with my new humans.

I sometimes have accidents indoors and I'm not familiar with walking on a leash, so I would need a yard with easy access to help me with housebreaking. Also, with my current condition, going up and down steps is too difficult, so ideally I need a home on the first floor. Do you have the patience to help me with all this and more?

I can live with children over 12, as I'm still fearful of sudden movements, loud noises or visitors, so I'm looking for a life with calm and understanding humans.

I have a low to medium energy level, but I need enough stimulation and activity every day to be fulfilled. I'm looking for someone who will be able to expend my energy appropriately, even though leash walking won't be possible for me at first. I love stuffed animals and may throw them around a bit while playing, but that's part of my charm!

I'm not very vocal, so condo/apartment living would be possible, provided it's well soundproofed and on the first floor.

Since I can't play or run yet, I'm looking for a home where I can be 100% isolated from other animals if there are any. I'm curious about dogs, but we don't know how I'd behave living with them or with cats. This will be validated when I'm fully recovered.

Malheureusement, je n'avais jamais eu de bons soins avant et j'ai dû avoir une grosse chirurgie avec des spécialistes pour me permettre de marcher normalement. Maintenant, je prends du mieux et j'aimerais le confort d'un foyer pour continuer ma convalescence.

Côté apprentissage, j'ai encore du chemin à faire. Je fais déjà de beaux progrès au Centre de réhabilitation pour animaux de HSI/Canada et chaque jour, je démontre ma grande résilience et je commence à refaire confiance aux humains. Je cherche un foyer qui comprendra qu'il me faudra quelques mois pour me sentir à mon aise avec mes nouveaux humains.

J'ai parfois des accidents à l'intérieur et je ne connais pas la marche en laisse, donc j'aurais besoin d'une cour facilement accessible pour m'aider avec la propreté. Aussi, avec ma condition actuelle, monter et descendre des marches est trop difficile, donc un pallier serait l'idéal. Avez-vous la patience nécessaire pour m'aider avec tout ça et plus encore?

Je peux vivre avec des enfants de plus de 12 ans, car je suis encore craintif des mouvements brusques, des bruits forts ou des visiteurs, donc je cherche une vie avec des humains assez calmes et compréhensifs.

J'ai un niveau d'énergie bas à moyen, mais j'ai besoin d'assez de stimulations et d'activités par jour pour être épanoui. Je cherche quelqu'un qui va pouvoir dépenser mon énergie adéquatement, même si la marche en laisse ne sera pas possible au début pour moi. J'aime les peluches et il se peut que je les lance un peu partout en jouant, mais ça fait mon charme!

Je suis peu vocal, donc la vie en condo/appartement serait possible, si c'est bien insonorisé et au rez-de-chaussée.

Comme je ne peux pas encore jouer ou courir actuellement, je cherche un foyer où je pourrai être 100% isolé des autres animaux s'il y en a. Je suis curieux des chiens, mais on ne connaît pas mon comportement en cohabitation avec eux ni avec les chats. Ce sera à valider quand je serai rétabli complètement.
