Meet Camilo AKA Milo! Milo’s foster mum describes his as a curious, playful, attentive, happy, easy-going goofball who loves to cuddle. Milo has a beautiful ear-to-ear smile and will make you laugh with his silly personality. With his trusted humans, he can be a cuddly boy when he wants to be, but he also appreciates his alone time. His favorite things to do include being outside, taking long walks with his canine foster and playing with his stuffies. The ones that squeak make him roll around like a puppy! Ears and hooves are his favorite treats and he will happily chew on them for hours in his crate or on his bed when rewarded.
With proper introductions Milo generally meets new people nicely. Sometimes he can be nervous of new people and will need time to warm up to strangers and so his new family should be willing to continue the work on polite greetings. Milo has done well with his foster mom’s 13 year old niece, but would prefer a home with kids 14+ that understand dog etiquette and can participate is his ongoing training.
Milo’s ideal home is a house as he can be fearful of strangers in the elevator. He would love a fenced yard, however provided he received the exercise he needs, this is not necessary. With proper introductions, Milo is also dog social and would love to have another friendly, easy going dog pal. He plays very nicely with his canine foster sister, but at times, prefers not to share his toys. He would also be fine as the only dog in the home. He is not cat tested, however given his interest in squirrels, he’d likely do best in a cat free home.
Milo is medium energy and is doing well with a 30 min walk before and after work as well as playtime and potty breaks in between. On weekends, he often enjoys longer walks. Milo will pull when he sees a squirrel or bird – he wants to play! - and is a bit nervous of buses and loud trucks, but otherwise he is great on the leash.
When his people go out, he is trusted with free reign of a safe room, and as long as he’s had his walk, he settles quickly. He has been left for up to 6 hours at which point his teenage foster siblings are home from school to let him out for a pee. He has come a long way since he arrived and now understands basic commands like sit, stay and come. Milo is very smart and responds well to positive reinforcement based training. He would love a family willing to continue the work and teach him new tricks and skills. If consistent breaks are provided, Milo is house trained however his new family should be prepared for an adjustment period while he learns a new routine.
Milo will need to be on a limited ingredient food due to some food allergies. This can be purchased at any reputable pet food store.
To ensure Milo and his new family are set up for success, Fetch & Releash will donate his adoption fee towards training with a positive reinforcement based trainer.
