Poor little Millie can't seem to catch a break! She first came to us as a owner surrender in late 2017. She was then adopted in Dec of 2017 and returned in February of 2018 bc "the other dog in the house has been depressed ever since she came into their lives." She was adopted out again in March of 2018 and was recently returned bc the current owner lost their jobs and home due to COVID-19 and have to move into a situation that does not allow dogs.

Millie has been in her new foster home for almost 4 weeks and is adjusting nicely. She is definitely one of those girls who will need a little time to settle in, but once she does she will have your whole heart. It is very clear that very little training and/or structure was present in her life before now. Since arriving in her current foster home, she has learned some basic commands (she didn't even know sit) and she is doing excellent with crate training (The crate training is being used for separation anxiety and not potty training as she is fully housebroken). Since Millie has been passed around so much she has a tendency to resource guard once she feels settled. Again, this is not surprising given she has had several homes. Her current foster is utilizing a training collar to deter her from unwanted behavior and it is working very well. Millie only needs to hear the collar beep and she will stop barking out the window or at the dog on the TV and run to her foster mom for her reward. Again, she wants to make smart choices but, for now, needs to be reminded on how. Consistent use of her collar will help her continue her journey to success.

Millie's last home had no other dogs and we do not believe she was socialized very much over the last few years. Her current foster home has another dog and, with some time, training, and patience, they are now great together. Her foster parents believe she can acclimate to living with other dogs as long as her adopters are persistent and patient with her in the beginning. Millie's only request is that her next home be her final one. She has so much unconditional love to give and just wants a home to call her own.
