Meet Miki

Mr. Miki is a gorgeous American Eskimo who made his way to STAF after being dumped in the highest kill county pound in the area. This pound is deplorable. Miki arrived at the pound with a very significant facial wound. We knew this would put Miki at the top of the “list”, so STAF stepped in, rescued this little guy and he was immediately taken to the vet where he received treatment for his wound.

Miki appears to be around a year old, maybe 40 pounds, and has definitely had a rough and unfair start in life. When he first arrived at STAF Miki was very afraid of being on a leash and would cower when anyone attempted to leash him. This was most likely due to the fact that he had never been walked on a leash before. But within a few weeks of being at STAF, spending time with the volunteers as well as being showered with their love and affection, Miki began walking on leash with a lot more confidence.

Miki does very well with all the people he has met so far and his facial wound has completely healed:). Miki relishes any time he gets to spend with the STAF volunteers. Due to his fear of other dogs, Miki would do best being the solo dog in his forever home. However, Mike has been tested with cats at STAF and seemed to do well with feline friends:) Miki so deserves a home that will spoil him rotten with plenty of walks, lots of playtime in the yard, a big soft bed to keep him warm and provide him with all the opportunities for doggie-joy and doggie-happiness that he missed the first year of his life.

Miki’s estimated birth date is August 2016

Please see our homepage for visiting hours and adoption details.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.

Visit our website www.staf.org to download our application.

We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.

You must be 21 years or older to adopt a dog from STAF

We require a physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog's behavior and exercise needs.

Invisible fences - Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training--we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences unless otherwise noted in a dog's online profile.

We do request vet and personal references.

At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 75 miles of Cincinnati.

Can’t adopt but want to help? You can make a difference! Our shelter is run entirely on volunteer-power and generous donations from animal-lovers like you. 100% of your contribution goes directly to caring for our 500+ furry residents. Thank you for your support.
