Meet Mighty Joe Young
He is a black pittie mix weighing in at 63 lbs of pure muscle and affection!
We believe Joe to be about 4 years old. Sweet Joe is heartworm positive like many of our precious dogs at Three Little Pitties so he will go through treatment to get him healthy and well before he travels to his new home in the PNW.
Upon sweet Joes initial assessment, he was very excited to greet everyone! He came running into the room and he did jump up to greet everyone because he was just so HAPPY! He also jumped on the counters looking to see if there were any special treats (food) for him.
Joe loves affection and to be rubbed, pet and cuddled! He is very strong on a leash and will pull to meet other dogs. He tends to need several corrections to heel on his leash but he is still very powerful and can pull easily.
This boy loves car rides and hop in like a pro! Watch his video here :

While he is very excited to meet new dogs, he can often come off too strong and startle them! He takes correction very well from other dogs and doesn't hold a grudge!
He is very food/treat motivated so it should be easy to train this big marshmallow! He does need to learn manners when taking treats especially learning to take them gently! He can be a little pushy when it comes to his food bowl!
He passed his food bowl test with flying colors and had to issues with being pet while eating. He's just inpatient and would do really well with a slow feeder for all his meals because he eats super fast!
Mighty Joe is VERY strong and will need someone who is a confident and strong handler who can also work with him on manners and setting healthy boundaries. because of his strength and exuberance, it would be best for him to be placed in a home with kids 10 and older. With some love, patience and training this big boy can learn good doggy manners and how to socialize with his doggy friends!
Are you ready to welcome Mighty Joe Young into your home forever? He needs YOU!

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
