He was found neglected and wandering as a stray, and was lured to safety by an animal control officer who offered him some McDonald's french fries (earning him the name "Mickey"). Mickey had a rough start to life and never had a chance to experience things that other dogs experience as puppies. When he came to his foster home, he needed to be shown that he could use a dog bed instead of lying on the bare floor. But his rough start isn't stopping him from letting his sweet and loving personality shine through!
Mickey is gentle, respectful and just wants to be loved. His foster Mom says he loves positive attention and wants nothing more than to please and be rewarded for it. He loves having assurance that he is a good boy! He is starting to become comfortable snuggling with his foster family. He is kind and gentle with his foster Mom's 9-year-old grandson and does great with visitors that come into the house.
Mickey does great with other dogs! He lives with two in his foster home and has been excellent with other dogs who have come to visit. He watches the other dogs wrestle but hasn't engaged in that activity yet since he is still building his confidence. Mickey is still shy outside and in new situations, so he has started going to doggie daycare to build his confidence. He is doing great making new friends and spending time with his pup pals!
Mickey is making great strides with his training and is learning commands such as sit, down, and wait. He has very good leash manners he is more confident walking with another dog, and he doesn't pull. He is fully house trained and is crate trained. Mickey is very food motivated he hasn't met a treat he doesn't like!
