Meet Mick

Our newest fluffy butt family member, Mick is ready to share his story!

I always thought I would have a home. I never thought that I would have to start all over at 9 years old. That is what happened, though. I found myself in the shelter at 9 years old. I wasn't sure if anyone would come for me. After all, I am an older dog with arthritis. I must have had a guardian angel looking after me, though. Before I knew it, I was being picked up by my foster and welcomed into this rescue!

My name is Mick and I am a 9-year-old, 57lb male Border Collie. I have the classic tuxedo coat and am quite the handsome fella! My personality is calm and laid back. I am an older guy, so I am perfectly happy to just hang out and chill with my family.

Below you will find what my foster has to say about me!

"Mick is a sweet boy to have around. He likes some attention, but mostly likes just hanging out. He goes through a doggie door, so on nice days, he loves to lay outside. He is extremely scared of rain, lightning, and thunder! I discovered his love of playing in the water when I went to fill up an outdoor water bucket and he went after the water. He had the best time letting me squirt him! At this writing, we have had him a little over a week, he was very nervous but has come a long way at calming down. He is just a sweet soul! ??"

??To My New Family (Part 1)??
I am very excited to meet you, but before you apply to adopt me I need you to know some important things about me. I have compiled a list below ?

? I can be shy and nervous around people I don't know. It takes me a bit to realize everything will be okay, and once I do I love the attention they bring! I have good manners and do not jump on people. I have not been to any public outings so am unsure how I would do.

? I have not shown to be a big chewer in my foster home and seem to be well out of my chewing stage. I have not shown to be a big barker in my foster home either. I am potty trained, but I do NOT like the kennel. When no one is home, I have free roam of the house and do excellent. At night, I sleep in the bedroom with my foster parents.

? I am not a very playful guy. I don't care for fetch or playing with toys. I will say, though, if you want me to act like a puppy again get me some water to play in! I LOVED playing in the sprinkler and have a blast trying to catch the squirts and play in it.

? I know food aggression and resource guarding are common with rescue dogs. I have not shown signs of having either in my foster home. It is important that this is something my family be aware of and still monitor should they have other dogs in my new home. Always better to be prepared just in case ?

? I do great with other dogs and tend to be indifferent towards them.

?My foster does not have any cats, so I am unsure how I would do with them.

? I have not been around any kids. I would probably do fine with they were older. I couldn't handle the energetic toddlers anymore.

? I am unsure how I would do in an apartment setting. I do fine on walks, but you can tell that I am a bit nervous on them. I am initially nervous in the car but settle down after a bit.

?I am being fostered in Purcell, OK. We do not send our dogs on transports or ship them. This means my new family needs to pick me up, even if they are out of state.

?My adoption fee is $150. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
??To My New Family (Part 2)??

I am very ready to find my forever family, however, I want to make sure that not only am I a good fit for you but that you are a good fit for me! Below you will find some of the things that I hope for in my new home

My ideal home would be one that doesn't mind me initially being a bit shy. I am one of those dogs that takes a bit to come around, but once I do I am the most loyal boy around! I do good with other dogs and would be fine in a home with or without them. I would love to find a family that is looking for a low-maintenance dog who just wants to hang out with them and be loved!

Do you think you could be the family for me? If so, please apply to adopt me at

Thanks for letting me share my story with you ?
