Meet Mia

Mia, also known as Mamma Mia, was posted on Facebook as in need of rescuing. She was reported tied up outside, and her puppies had been placed in a box and thrown into the trash. Later, someone removed the pups from the trash, but they remained out of her reach. She was visibly stressed, unable to be with them, malnourished, and covered in ticks. Mia and her pups recovered with us. She is great with other dogs and quite playful. She appears to be a cattle dog/heeler mix, but we do not have information about her parents.

Adoption process:

Our rescue is located near Bucerias Mexico. We use Petfinder to reach a greater audience for our dogs and adopt the majority of our dogs to the US and Canada.

The first step is to submit an application on our website here: https://www.adogsnewlife.org/adopt

Once we receive your application, we will review it and may contact you for more information or to conduct a home check. If your application is approved, we collaborate with flight angels flying from Puerto Vallarta to destinations close to where the dog is posted as available. Adopters can meet these flight angels at the airport and take the pup home. (We can provide more detailed information about this process to adopters upon request.) Before requesting adoption fees or the signing of the adoption contract we give adopters a few days to a week to spend time with their new pup. If for some reason things were not to work out, we kindly ask that the adopters foster the dog until we find a suitable home for them.

A few notes about our pups:

- Most of our shelter dogs are accustomed to being outside and free-roaming unless otherwise stated. Some may have been in homes before and could be potty trained but in a new environment they would need easy access to the outside and be re-acclimated to their designated potty area. We cannot guarantee a pup is potty trained unless they are with a foster or surrendered to us with noted training.

- We can of course send more videos/pictures of our dogs. More than likely they'll have friends in the background :) Unfortunately we cannot do live videos at our shelter.

- Our dogs are given de-wormer tested negative for heartworm (unless otherwise noted) are up to date on required vaccines for travel and receive regular flea and tick treatment. They have also been evaluated by our vet who has provided any necessary medical care upon rescue.

-Last but not least we LOVE our dogs and we hope you do too. They have hearts of gold and so much love to give. Please be kind and patient with them; they are worth it! It takes time to adjust to new people and new places.

are on IG and FB. Please consider adopting as we have over 130 dogs and the shelter is full.
