Mia's Story

Hi friends, I’m Mia!
I’m 5 months old and about 24 lbs of pure joy and puppy energy!
I’m the kind of girl who brings sunshine wherever I go — silly, happy, and always up for fun. I love every toy I can get my paws on, and I think walks and runs are the best part of any day!
I'm living with a great Foster family who have kiddos and another pup. At home, I do great in my crate (I know it’s my cozy safe space) and I sleep soundly through the night like a good girl. I’m also super smart and catching on to routines and training fast — I love making my humans proud!
+ A few of my favorite things:
* Toys, toys, and more toys!
* Going for walks or joining you on a run
* Car rides — I’m an excellent passenger
* Kids! I love them so much and always want to be part of their fun — I’m still learning how to play without jumping, but I’m trying really hard!
* Playing with dog friends or hanging with my people one-on-one
If you’re looking for a fun, loyal adventure buddy who also loves a good snuggle, I might just be your girl! Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info and pics of me!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
