Meet Mercury

This litter of 7 Roman gods & goddesses are waiting for you to claim their snuggly powers for your own.

With a birthdate of Jan. 4th, Mom is a cattle dog mix. We've included her picture. She weighs about 34 lb. She was kept on a tie-out at her surrendering owner's, so they don't know who dad is. These sweet pups were born inside their foster home and are ready to leave the "Olympus" for their own forever families.

Mercury is very affectionate and playful. He's working on not putting his paws on people, but will hop up in front of them to encourage petting. He is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. He's comfy in a 42" crate so he has room to sprawl. He is crated at night and can wait until morning without making a mess. He'll bark in his crate once he hears his fosters stirring to hurry his walk along.

Mercury is leash savvy, but is hesitant in new situations. He enjoys being with his people, so adventures are welcome. He'll develop confidence in his handler as he experiences outings to public places. In his own environment, he's a confident young man and eager to please.

His weight at neuter in mid-June was just under 40 lb, but now as full grown he is about 50 lb. In the pictures with the cat, he's the boy curled up and Olduvai, rescued from the same home, is looking at the camera.

**********

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies.

Not all foster dogs are available for viewing during public events at Tractor Supply (360 Blowing Rock Blvd) in Lenoir, NC. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
