Meet Mercedes

Hello! My name is Mercedes, but I will answer to "Sadie" also. They tell me I look like a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix. I have been well-loved for all my 5 years of life, but my people had to move to a place that does not allow dogs, so they asked Wonder Pets Rescue to find me a new home. I was a bit hesitant to let new people handle me at first, but I absolutely adore my foster daddy and follow him wherever he goes. My foster mommy says she hopes I find a home with a nice man who will be involved in my care, so I can have a new daddy all my own forever and ever. I am wonderful with every dog I have met in my foster home, even the big neighbor dog; I also really enjoy my foster kitty sister (after she stopped chasing me) and the backyard chicken. I used to live with a bunny, who was my best friend, too. I would enjoy another kind animal to live with, and I'm not even picky about what kind of animal friend, as long as it is kind to me! I might not be a good fit initially for small children, but I used to have a nice neighbor girl who played with me, and I like the children on my new street, so visiting polite children would be fun.

My foster mommy praises me for being so good about going potty outside! I will wait by the door and sometimes whine when I have to go out. I used to live in an apartment and I am good about going out for walks and doing my business pretty quickly. When it's warm and sunny, I like to go for longer walks, too, but I am not a high-energy dog. I will sleep in a kennel all night with my nice cushy blankies, but I would really prefer being able to sleep in bed with my people instead.
I am a super picky eater (I'm too cute to just eat any old thing I'm offered). My old family used to feed me a lot of people food and my foster mommy says I have the waistline to prove it. She says I need someone who is committed to helping me with my new healthy lifestyle, so my creaking joints won't hurt when I get older. I still try to beg so cute standing up on my back legs! Hey, I enjoy healthy food, too: I am pretty good about catching a small apple chunk right out of the air! If you are a kind person who is ready to add little me to your family, please let Wonder Pets know right away! Oh, and read the important stuff below, too.

Mercedes will need people who are committed to helping her stay on an appropriate dog diet, to continue her journey toward a healthy weight (she is currently 15.8#). She is a picky eater, and loves human food. Unfortunately, this has led to some obesity and possibly contributed to some other minor health conditions. Mercedes is up to date on her routine and rabies vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, wormed, and had a dental cleaning, where a couple of teeth needed to be removed. She has recovered well and is ready to find that special loving home all her own. Mercedes will also need a person who is good at reading dog body language, as she is not comfortable initially with strangers handling her.

Mercedes' adoption donation is $400.
