Meet Mel

Mel was rescued by the SPCA of East Texas after his owner unexpectedly passed away. He is a 6 year old, 77 lb., Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix. Mel is completely blind from a condition called Microphthalmia which he was born with. Unfortunately, special needs pets are often overlooked because potential adopters do not know what their conditions entail. Mel quickly learns how to maneuver his way around in new places. He is loved by all at the SPCA of East Texas. We would love for Mel to find his forever home with someone who is patient, understanding, and who has unconditional love for him.
