Mayfield, along with other dogs, were kept in a trailer with little to no socialization. When the tornado hit, the trailer was flipped. Several dogs were injured but she was not. The owner released the dogs to HART and mayfield went into foster care.
Mayfield definitely needs another dog in the home to teach her all of the good doggie things! Her foster home has 3 Large dogs ans 2 small dogs and she is learning from then and loves having them around so much! We think it’s comforting to her.
She is a shy and timid girl, but is slowly coming out of her shell. First she was afraid to come out of the crate, then afraid to go outside. But she quickly learned the benefits of a home and deserted the crate within a few days to lay on a dog bed in the family room. She now goes out and back in on her own, and is starting to try to play.
Her foster mom is confident Mayfield will overcome her trauma and fear and be a wonderful low maintenance dog, but she will need help along the way. A basic obedience class will help build her confidence, as will walks with her person.
A home on the quiet side would be best for her. She is current on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed so ready for her forever home. A fenced-in yard is required to be considered for adoption. Please fill out an adoption application at rescueahart.org.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
