HISTORY:
Maya was found as a stray, her owner was located but she was 90 years old and had to surrender Maya because she could no longer care for her. Maya was deerly loved.

ABOUT:
A sweetheart, a joy, a pleasure, lovely - Maya can be described by all of these. Her full name is Maya Lumps - upon rescue she had very large growths on her body. Her first surgery removed 7lbs of growths from behind her front leg which ended up being benign lipomas. Maya will not be officially ready to go to her new home until she has her second lumpectomy to remove a second large tumor that is impacting her mobility. While we expect it to also be benign, we can’t say for certain until it is removed and biopsied.

Being a senior girl Maya’s hearing isn’t perfect, so she’s great at long hard naps. Nothing disturbs her. She is being fostered with 3 dogs from 35-65lbs and she is absolutely perfect and friendly with everyone. She’s not bothered by much at all. She doesn’t mind if anyone wants to join her for a nap or share her spot at the window. (See previously mentioned “joy” “pleasure” “lovely”) Maya is also great with all people she has met, no one is a stranger. Maya is not living with children in her foster home, but because she is so easy going we think she would be fine in a home with children as long as they can respect her physical limitations as a senior citizen.

After she healed from her first surgery to remove the largest of her growths, Maya decided to make a zoomies run around the yard, even at 12 years old! She’s generally very low energy, but every once in a while she’ll decide to take a spin around the yard at (her) top speed. She also is determined to go up stairs by herself even though it isn’t always pretty and get into cars by herself (her foster mom gives her a little boost, but we let Maya think she did it herself.)

Maya LOVES attention and snuggling...and snacks. Her foster mom said the hardest thing about fostering her is saying no to her requests for attention (and a bite of what you’re eating) because she is so darn cute and sweet.
