Meet Maya ADOPTED:)

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Maya was a stray in Fayette county and she went unclaimed. When her time was up, Waverly Pet Rescue took her in. She is living in a foster home. She is up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and spayed.

Maya is about 6 years old as of November 2019. She weighs about 45 pounds. She is a friendly dog and loves attention. Somewhat timid at first but great dog once she gets to know you. She seems to already be house-trained. Just might need a little more training in a new home. She does well with other dogs. She has not been around cats or children. She has such a cute face and especially her ears when they stand up. A gentle kind owner with a soft voice and approach would be best.

We think she is a lab, terrier, German Shepherd mix? She is beautiful and unique looking for sure!

1/13/2020 UPDATE: Maya went to a new foster home last week. The other dog in the home can be dominating towards new dogs and they did not get along that well at first. Things are better now.

We have had Maya a week now and I am happy to report that things are going pretty good. Unfortunately things did get worse before they got better between her and our dog, but we figured out the biggest problem was the toys. Once we put the toys away Maya became a different dog. Much less stressed. However, with this experience, I think Maya would be happier as an only dog, but maybe it is just our dog that she can't get along with. If you have a dog, please keep in mind sharing toys does not go well with her. She becomes protective of the toys. For the most part they are getting along, definitely better than at first. Other than that, she has been a great dog.

Maya is a very friendly sweet girl. She can be a little timid, but loves new people. She is very loving and enjoys being pet and cuddled. She has the softest fur. Her coat is an interesting mixture of black and brown. She is house broke and doesn't chew on anything. She goes in her kennel fine during the day and at night, and sleeps great through the night. She also does great in the car. We have left her out of the kennel in our house while we are gone and we have not had any problems. She has settled into our house fine and enjoys following me around and snuggling with me on the couch.

Will someone please adopt Maya and give her a forever home? $125.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $300 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
