Meet Maya
Maya was dumped in the Redlands, a popular dumping ground for unwanted dogs in SouthWest Florida. She had chewed areas of her skin raw from being overloaded with fleas. She had very bad gingivitis and infected teeth and gums.
Maya also came into rescue Heartworm positive. We got her vetted as soon as possible, clearing up her skin issues and treated her for heartworms. Once her heartworm treatment was complete, she had a dental where 4 teeth had to be extracted.
Maya is missing some padding on a front foot, and the toes have fused together. Due to that injury, she sometimes holds her paw up when walking or running or playing. She was possibly hit by a car or attacked by a large dog to cause that injury. This does not slow her down ONE BIT!!
Maya is very very social with people. She is a dominant female to other female dogs. With proper intro, she may be able to coexist with another female, as long as that dog isn't alpha. She does well with male dogs. Maya has a soft, medium sized coat. She sits on her back legs and "begs", waving her front legs when she wants attention or treats.
