Maximilian Boxer Mix Clayton, NC

Maximilian is a very dashing, and equally personable, 1-year old boxer mix. Maximilian came to Red Barn showing a mix of fear and insecurity. This is not uncommon for dogs coming from a shelter environment with lots of barking dogs. Max has let go of his fear during his time at RBR, but he still wears his insecurity on his sleeve. This, however, is not a bad thing! It just means that he definitely needs a leader that will give him the guidance and security he craves since he knows he is a bottom-of-the-pack dog. Under the guidance of a pack leader, Max can walk by other dog pens peacefully and calmly. Without leadership, Max can become very defensive as a shield for his insecurity.

With proper handling, Max is learning how to keep himself out of trouble since he doesn't want to be that ugly-acting dog. He now loves the agility playground (especially when there are treats involved) and he loves to play in the play yard, showing lots of cute, excited-submission (also called the zoomies). All he needs is someone that will guide him in acting appropriately around other dogs and build his confidence so that he will eventually be able to socialize more with them.

Max has the most amazingly fine, soft coat and adorable eyes. He will be a wonderful companion for someone that understands some dog psychology and is comfortable with bully breeds. Maximilian is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Our $250 adoption fee covers these expenses.
