Max V. German Shepherd Dog Chicago, IL

Max V. came to GSR in February from a cruelty case in Southern IL. He was just 40 pounds and sadly tested positive for heartworms. He was treated for ear infections, skin infections, and whipworms. Fast forward 3 months and Max is a healthy 65 pounds, clear of whipworms, and has compelled heart worm treatment. Max is 3 years old and is your typical GSD - energetic, loyal, sometimes needy, and intelligent. This sable boy is not a couch potato - he needs a job! He will do best in a GSD experienced home that exercise him daily, and provide mental stimulation. Max’s foster family describes him as a bull in a China shop at times, so he’d be best suited in home with children over the age of 10. Max is dog friendly and was previously fostered with a submissive male hound. He wouldn’t mind being an only dog though as he can be an attention hog and doesn’t always want to share humans. Max has a strong prey drive and will not be placed with cats or small dogs. He knows basic commands but will need to continue his obedience training. Max can be a typical cautious GSD when meeting new people and protective of his person. He is a wonderful boy that will thrive in a home that can continue training with him.

Adoption fee includes: spay or neuter, vacccines, heart worm testing, fecal test and microchip.
