Meet Max
I take a LONG time to warm up and trust people and we aren’t too sure on my background. My foster family thinks I should have a home with no kids, but with another dog that wants to play with me and have a brother.
My current foster brother doesn’t like to play with me but I met another dog over Thanksgiving and we played EVERY day for hours and had loads of fun. I may prefer a dog that’s smaller, as he was a dachshund.
In my current home there are 3 cats and I’ve chased them all quite a bit and nipped at two of them as well so I don’t think I want cats!
My Foster Mom says that it takes me a LONG time to trust. Lots of love, feeding, crating (I LOVE MY CRATE!) And discipline. I understand a stern tone just as I understand praise and LOVE being praised.
I like and appreciate a walk, and I’m also VERY good on leash, but I also do JUST fine going outside to potty. While my first foster family said I tended to run and had me on a Martindale collar. However, I’ve never run off in my current foster home. (I’m also very slow if you are worried about that lol!)
I think Max needs a QUIET home with adults who will spend lots of time with him. Currently he is only “alone,” as in with no one home for maybe 2 hours total per day IF I shuttle the kids anywhere that I don’t bring him. But he and my dog come to work with me every day and he’s a favorite at work. He seems to warm to men faster than women, and to be much more hesitant with kids.
I absolutely adore him and if I felt that our home was THE right place for him to find his forever family. He lets me pick him up and cuddle him on the couch. He loves belly scratches, and he loves kisses and love.
