Max German Shepherd Dog Carleton, MI

This is Max. He is a 1 to 2 year old pure breed German Shepherd. He was pulled from the shelter in Rouge back in April to undergo treatment for heartworm. He has been through a 4 week professional board and train program and is now looking for the perfect home. He is housetrained, crate trained, muzzle trained and continues to work/practice leash skills, off leash, downstays, and more. Max likes to work hard and play hard. His favorite thing in the world is playing fetch and he is seldom without a ball. He is friendly with people and will interact quickly.

Max is very intelligent and active and will require the following:
-Max’s new family MUST continue working/training with him. He is a very intelligent dog and can be impulsive. Max is a very confident boy and will require a confident person to lead him. Must be familiar with training or committed to taking him to a professional to learn. GSD experience a must.
-No small children, cats, small dogs, or small livestock. Max is a big guy that sometimes isn’t aware of how much space he takes up. Older, savvy dog children. Max may do well with another non-dominant female dog. Slow, supervised introductions done in stages with other dogs may be possible.
-Fenced in yard with room for SO MANY ACTIVITIES!
-Physical and mental stimulation DAILY. Max is not a couch potato. He loves walks/runs, fetch, hiking, flirt pole play, etc. Max would excel at an agility sport.
This may seem like quite the list, but we know Max well and want to set him and his new family up for success. We are aware that it may take some time, and his foster mom is in no hurry to find a less than perfect home.
