This sweetheart is Mavis Blu!

Mavis Blu is an approximately 2.5 year-old female Hound/Labrador mix and weighs around 40 lbs. (still small enough to be a lap dog but not too small that you have to worry about stepping or sitting on her accidently ;). She was rescued after giving birth in a horse-trailer on a very cold day!

Mavis Blu is a sweetheart with an endearing personality! She loves to lay on the sofa with her foster Mom and lay her head in her lap. She loves her people and will be your shadow around the house. She also loves to swing in the porch swing with them in the evening.

Mavis Blu is in a foster home with (3) other dogs and a cat, and gets along well with all of them. But we always recommend that with any dog in a home with cats, that you crate the dog when they are going to be alone, until you feel secure that they are okay to be left out alone together. She loves her tug ropes, chew and squeaky toys.

Mavis Blu will need a securely fenced (stockade) back yard to play and exercise in, she loves to put that hound nose to use and inspect the yard on a daily basis!

Mavis Blu hasn't had much experience just being a "puppy" so now that she doesn't have to worry about puppies, she is loving being a puppy, even at 2.5 years old! So, you will need to keep shoes off the floor (they are just another play toy to Mavis Blu). She enjoys car rides and would love a home where she is included in the family activities! She is learning to walk on a leash and prefers quieter streets for walking (a lot of traffic makes her a little nervous). She is treat-motivated, so teaching her new things is easier with treats and positive reinforcement.

Another playful dog in the house would be nice as Mavis Blu loves to play with her foster siblings! For a hound, she is relatively quiet and doesn't bark often.

Mavis Blu is crate-trained but does okay outside the crate when left alone for short time spans. She is progressing with her leash-training and goes on walks most evenings. House-training has improved greatly the last few weeks. She will require patience and ONLY positive enforcement as she continues her learning her house-training skills.

Mavis Blu will be a faithful companion giving you lots of love! She will be worth any effort needed to make her feel secure in her new home!

Mavis Blu is spayed, current on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200.
