Meet Maverick
All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability.

Meet Maverick! Maverick was an owner surrender at a local vet clinic in town. He is a 7 year old, presumed boxer mix with one blue eye and one brown eye. He absolutely loves his people, and wags his nub tail 100 miles per hour! He would enjoy an active family. He longs for a comfy couch to spend his days laying on.
His previous owner was not able to give him the food and care he needed, and wanted to euthanize him. He was starving and full of worms. The veterinarians came to the consensus that this dog had the potential to live a happy and healthy life, so they took Maverick into their custody. He has spent the last 2 months at the kennels at the vet clinic, where he has reached a healthy weight and is ready to go to a foster home! He went from 30 pounds to 50 pounds!!
In Maverick’s previous home, he was around other dogs, but he has not been tested one on one with others yet. He has spent his time at the vet kennel being surrounded by other dogs with plenty of human socialization. He has loved every person he has ever met!
One of his caretakers describes him as: “The most loving a grateful dog I have ever met. He loves his humans with everything he has. He deserves the best home in the world! We will miss Maverick at the clinic, but all of us are so excited for him to finally find his fur-ever family.”
