Maverick's Story

Hello, my name is Maverick a.k.a. Mavvy Davvy, Mavvy Doo, Cutie McTooty and Whitey Ford. I am about 2 1/2 years old and I weigh 43 pounds. My foster mom thinks I have the cutest face on the planet and she loves my “luxurious” fur. When I go walking everyone complements my looks. I am a big cuddle bug and I love belly rubs, I literally smile! I also love playing keep away, then fetch, then tug-of-war – then I quietly not on my chew toys for a long time. I like to play in that order as I like my routines. I didn’t have the easiest start in life, I was found in a park in Brooklyn, NY which is where I probably developed my habit of eating dandelions and “helicopters”. I was very leery of people at first, but my foster mom loved me so much that I began to relax and trust people. I am really bonded to my people and I love to put my head down and press right into their body for lots of Lovings! I am still a bit weary of new people and I like to be reassured that everything is OK. I went to “school” and I loved it. I will do most anything for a treat. My mom and my trainer think I am super smart and I learn quickly.

I would love to keep going to school, I gained a lot of self-confidence through training and consistency. I get along well with my two dog siblings. If I am nervous, I raise my hair and bark, but I have never, ever made a motion to bite or even nip a human -even when I get my nails trimmed -which I strongly dislike. My foster mom says that I am the sweetest little boy and she wants me to find a person/family that will spend lots of time with me; where I will be a main focus and one of the biggest joys in their lives. I would fit right into a loving, quiet home with no yelling or chaos. I like to sit by or on my humans feet and even better, I like to be up on the recliner with them. I also love taking boating rides!
