Maverick

Maverick is a husky mix who is looking for his loving forever home. Maverick was abused by his previous owners, who dumped him at a kill shelter before he was pulled by Husky House. Understandably, he has difficulty trusting people in some situations and can resource guard his kennel as well as his food. You would, too, if you never knew when your next meal was coming and had never had a comfy place of your own to sleep! However, he is very friendly outside of his kennel and is super excited to meet new people in the yard or on walks. His ideal family needs to go slow and be patient, while building trust. As Maverick gets to know and trust volunteers who spend time with him, he lets down his guard and realizes he doesn’t have to protect himself - he even lets one of his favorite volunteers sit with him in his kennel and pet him while he’s eating meals! Maverick also loves playing with dogs his size, although he is easily excited and may need some redirection, especially when playing with female dogs.
