Meet Mattis
Hi, my name is Mattis! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Smart, active, loyal, affectionate
-Can Live with Kids: Yes, sturdy, dog-experienced kids ages 8+, pending an introduction at the shelter.
-Can Live with Cats: Mattis chased the cat in his previous home and would likely prefer a feline-free living environment. A very confident cat might be okay after a slow, supervised introductory period.
-Can Live with Dogs: Mattis is dog reactive and may require an extended introductory period to be able to live with another dog. It would have to be a respectful, tolerant dog that matches his energy level and play style-- any potential canine housemates will have to meet at the shelter first to ensure they're a good match.
-Can do Apartment Living: No-- this big, active boy would love a home with a large yard. Because he struggles with reactivity, a busy apartment setting would not be a suitable environment for him.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, depending on adopter experience, between 1-3 private lessons.
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter
-Additional Information: Mattis is a big, goofy boy looking for a family that can invest in his future. Mattis is one smart cookie and will need plenty of mental stimulation and exercise to be happy and stay out of trouble. He excels at brain games-- treat puzzles, snuffle mats, nosework-- and would love an experienced home that can provide him with plenty of things to keep him occupied and engaged. When left to his own devices, Mattis tends to find his own fun (he likes to counter-surf, get into the garbage, and do all the things that an adolescent puppy loves to do!!) Mattis is an affectionate, loyal pup who is still learning to be the best dog he can be. While he may need a little extra assistance here and there, he is well on his way to becoming a wonderful lifelong companion for many years to come!
