Matteo (Mister Monte) - Katy TX -I am available for adoption

Hi friends! A little about me: I LOVE having a comfy, safe area to relax. I also like to roll around on the couch to get a really good scratch on my back (I’m a bit… hairless there). I’m a little guy, and my vet told me I’m looking MUCH better now that my foster family has been feeding and bathing me! I have that classic iggy posture, and everyone tells me I’m adorable. I have the silliest grin and I bark when I’m super excited to go outside.<br/><br/>I love to bounce up and down when my foster mom is getting ready to take me out. She thinks I’m hiding a springboard under my feet, but I’m just THAT good at it. I get along with dogs and cats, but I’m a little wary of new people. You just have to take it slow and let me come to you. (I’m a little more nervous around men and children.)<br/><br/>I would rather not be in a home that has new visitors all the time, as I LOVE a consistent schedule with the same folks each day. I’m a creature of habit—what can I say?<br/><br/>I need lots of patience and gentle love. I want to love you, but I have been through A LOT in my little life, and it takes me a bit to trust new friends.<br/><br/>My optimal Adoptive Home: <br/>Low Energy/Activity<br/>Moderate Energy/Activity<br/>Has a Canine Companion<br/>Has an Italian Greyhound Companion<br/>Has someone that can come home at lunch and let<br/>me out to potty<br/>Has an area that can be set up for me to stay in<br/>during a full work day with potty pads<br/>Is familiar with fearful behavior and/or has<br/>experience with dogs that have been<br/>abused/neglected in their past<br/>Has time and patience to dedicate to continuing my<br/>social rehabilitation<br/>Must have a securely fenced in yard (not an<br/>available dog park area)<br/>Must be in Texas or Oklahoma- out of state adoption<br/>would be highly unlikely for me<br/><br/>Apartment homes: <br/>Not a good fit for Matteo.<br/><br/>Walking on a leash:<br/>I am currently learning about being on a leash and<br/>will have this down in no time!<br/><br/>At night, I prefer to sleep in: <br/>My kennel<br/>A dog bed<br/>With a canine companion<br/><br/>Matteo house training: <br/>Very rare or no indoor accidents<br/>Occasional accidents. I know how to use designated potty pads indoors.<br/><br/>*Italian Greyhounds are known for housebreaking issues and most will have occasional accidents. Many come to us as surrenders due to excessive potty accidents indoors. This is typically the result of poor potty routines within the previous home so we do typically get them on track fairly quickly. As an IG parent you must be willing to commit to a structured and reasonable routine to keep your iggy from having excessive indoor accidents.***
