Matilda's Story

Meet Matilda
Matilda came to us in September 2024, a semi-feral mama dog who was completely terrified and shut down. Her puppies were battling parvo, and after the heartbreaking loss of one, Matilda sank into a deep depression. Because she was so fearful one moment and then barrier-reactive with other dogs the next, we initially kept her separated to give her space and time to adjust.
Slowly but surely, Matilda began to show signs of curiosity. When she met her first dog friend, everything changed and her personality began to blossom. She started jumping with joy and wagging her little nubbin tail in the most heart-melting way. It was clear: Matilda was ready for more.
She then moved to our behavior facility, where she made incredible progress. She learned how to use a doggy door, go potty outside, and even began walking on a leash. Matilda started to light up when seeing familiar faces. She is still a bit wary of touch, but clearly eager to connect. That's when we knew she was ready for her next big step.
Now in a loving foster home, Matilda is continuing to thrive. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and lounging on the couch like a pro. She's started giving kisses and follows her foster mom around the house, blossoming into the sweet and incredibly polite dog we always knew she was.
Matilda has come so far, and she's finally ready for her forever home. Could you be the one to help her complete her journey?
Apply today and give Matilda the loving home she deserves!
