MARTINEZ, CA (N CAL)- ID #A1032116 CONTRA COSTA SHELTER- expected to be RESCUE ONLY - NEEDS LOVING FOSTER and RECUE OR GOOD HOME- 'MASON'- 10 yr OLD, 57 LB GENTLE SENIOR MALE CHOW FOUND ROAMING AS A STRAY.

X URGENT -SHELTER ASKING FOR HELP AS THEY ARE A FULL KILL SHELTER- HE IS A VERY SWEET BOY, DOG FRIENDLY- NEEDS A FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE HIS LIFE.

We are in urgent need of finding a kind home and or foster and rescue for this poor older chow gentleman who was dumped and abandoned in somewhat geriatric condition. He was chipped with no name and the shelter said 'it appears his owner is abandoning him as they have not contact us or returned our calls/emails.'

We are therefore calling dear boy 'Mason'. Despite his utter neglect and abandonment, Mason can be seen in video with some pep in his step when sees and greets other dogs. He is also feeling better since the shelter prescribed him gabapentin after noticing some difficulty originally getting up.

The shelter describes Mason as a 'sweet older chow' and said 'He greeted the other dogs in his ward happily.' They are hoping a rescue can ideally help, but most rescues need a foster and place for an older dog to go. He does have some age related issues and also noted entropion which a rescue may be able to assist with.

The shelter has not decided if he will be adoptable yet, or remain Rescue only. While the shelter has told us they want to get a head start networking him to hopefully exit him asap, at a very full shelter, time is not on Mason's side. As he's off his stray hold and is currently Rescue only, so he can be added to the euth list very soon, unfortunately.

Therefore, if you are interested in fostering, fostering to adopt, or helping Mason in some other way (ie., visiting him, pledging for his medical or rescue, transport, etc), please contact: robinmorgan@cox.net or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap who is trying to find placement, and can try to pair fosters or interested parties with a willing rescue group.
