Meet Mary Jane
Mary Jane’s morning routine is to jumping on the bed to give her fommmy a BIG hug to show a little morning gratitude and get in a big stretch. Mary Jane is good on a leash and loves her daily 1.5 mile walk. She could be with a runner or hiker too but that’s just not her f-mom’s style. Like a Boxer and a Border Collie, she shows some herding tendencies, wanting to chase and corral loud trucks and buses but, again, she does mind on a leash and responds to “No bark” when her brow furls and fommy sees it coming. Its something about the wheels we think. Once she’s done with her morning walk and breakfast, she plays independently with her toys running and tossing them in the air. Occasionally big f-sister engages and they have a little roughhouse. Then she settles down with a chew toy and at night Mary Jane prefers to lie on the bed or couch with her head on a pillow. She is so sophisticated!
Fommy is teaching her commands. Mary Jane responds to sit, down, shake, crawl, and “gimme a kiss”. She has feelings and she likes to share. Mary Jane will have a conversation with you and it almost sounds like she’s yodeling her opinions! MJ does well in the car. Like most dogs, thunderstorms and fireworks are not her jam. She LOVES to watch television but violence and war movies upset her and her protective mode kicks in (barking and jumping). She’s got such a kind heart. While she is housebroken, she doesn’t “say” she wants to go outside. After the morning walk, short breaks about 3 times a day work for her. Another plus to having a fenced in yard!
I’d say she’s done very well since she was in a rural shelter for 7 months, just skin and bones, Before the shelter, no one is quite sure how she spent her first 5 or so months. Now she’s all filled out but still lean, just right for her size.
So, if you want to meet her, please fill out an application!!!
