Martin Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Berkeley Heights, NJ

We are simply smitten with Martin, and we think you will be, too! He is an absolute cuddle bug.

Meet Martin, the stunning 7-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix who thinks age is just a number. Martin is fully grown at about 45 pounds and was rescued from the kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia. Martins gorgeous chocolate brown coat and unique white racing stripe on his tummy are beautiful with his honey eyes and sugary muzzle. Martin is embracing his second chance at an amazing life, and he is so hopeful that he will soon find the most amazing family to give him all the love and care he deserves.

Martin came to Home for Good Dog Rescue in rough condition physically, but there doesnt seem to be anything that can dampen his sweet spirits. He is simply so loving and sweet. Martin is a gentle older man who always seems happy and excited to be around his friends. He is quite the gentleman and would love to be your companion for all your work from home days, leisurely walks around town, movie nights on the couch, sunny naps on the beach, or wherever life takes you on relaxing adventures. Martin is ready to be by your side and wag his tail the entire time. Martin adores being loved on, especially with pets, ear scratches, and belly rubs. Martin does great on a leash and would love regular strolls around the neighborhood to keep him active and nimble.

Martin knows sit and is working on stay. Putting him on the leash while sitting is improving, since he is so excited to go on a walk with you. Hes great on the leash with plenty of slack- and stays by you while walking. 98% of the time hell give it when asked. He has great table manners- doesnt beg while eating dinner and sits patiently (but not on your feet). He doesnt jump on counters or while you are sitting eating.

Martin would do great in a home with cats and kids, but would be best as an only dog in the household. Martin would be an ideal companion for one person, a young or older couple, or a full family. Martin is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

Given the conditions Martin originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Martin has completed his Heartworm treatment.
