Meet Martello

Martello was a stray dog, dumped in January. He was on the run for 6 months with his companion. She was much easier to catch, and has since found a home. Martello had to be caught in a coyote trap! Once caught, he was taken to our vet. He was emaciated. He had tick born diseases, and heart worm. He was covered in ticks too.
Once he came to Pittsburgh, we had him treated for heart worm. It’s taken us months to get his weight on that we felt comfortable with. He is now a happy, healthy dog.
Martello is fostered with other dogs. He is not a fan of children. He is clingy and needy. He loves to ride in the car. Stuffed animals are a must- he often carries them around, as comfort- just like a human baby is comforted by a pacifier.
Martello is house trained. He does not like a crate, and I found he prefers to have a bedroom to himself, if you need to keep him separated.
He loves to catch treats, and is extremely food motivated. He knows basic cues. He loves to give paw.
Keep in mind he has jowls- this means he’s a messy drinker and they’re slobber.
