Marshmallow's Story
Seven-year-old Marshmallow was found as a stray in Mexico almost a year ago. He was most likely hit by a car resulting in a broken hip which was recently operated on. He's recovering nicely, but will need to do some range of motion exercises on the affected leg. His adopter will want to encourage him to use the leg without having him strain it too much.

Marshmallow had tested positive for heartworm, but his vet confirmed that the infection has been cleared. He also tested positive for Ehrlichia (tick fever), but he is showing no symptoms, and the doctor says nothing more needs to be done. The poor guy also had very bad teeth and has already had a dental. His teeth are permanently stained, but otherwise healthy.

Marshmallow seems to be housebroken and will use a doggie door, although he may mark in the house until he's comfortable with his new surroundings. He is crate trained, rides well in a car and walks well, but he will chew on his leash and harness. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He's also been treated for flees and ticks and dewormed, so he's ready to begin a new life with someone who truly wants to love a little boy who had a very rough puppyhood.

Marshmallow likes small dogs but we haven't seen him around large ones. He chases cats and barks but doesn't hurt them. We're not sure about children, but with his sweet nature, he would probably be great around them. He's somewhat of a velcro dog in that he gets attached easily to his human and will follow that person around for love and attention.

Although he just had hip surgery, he is quick and will run away if given the chance, so his adopter will need to be careful when opening doors and gates.

If you're interested in Marshmallow, make an appointment to visit him or submit a BAM Adoption Application, and if approved, we'll contact you as soon as possible to arrange a meeting.
