Marley Puli St. Cloud, FL

This handsome man is named Marley for his Bob Marley dreadlock hair! He is a Hungarian Puli, often referred to by Americans as the dreadlocks dog or the mop dog. Marley has been passed around a few times & he's ready to settle into a forever loving home! Could that be you?

His original owners got him 5yrs ago before the pandemic. After their work schedules changed & they weren't home as often, the family rehomed him in early 2022. Marley had been raised with a 10yr old boy & no other pets in the home. He came to his new home where he was introduced to other animals & Marley did pretty well at first. He ignored the cats, showed interest in other dogs, but would tense up & mark when he was around their intact little male dog. Being that no one ever neutered Marley, there was too much testosterone in the home & they passed him on to a family member. The new home had younger children who were somewhat rough with animals & they ran into some issues with Marley showing aggression when he is grabbed. Marley loves to lay on the couch & be pet but if you pull at his collar or try to push his body, he will growl & potentially snap.

Marley is a friendly dog but he needs to be in a home without young children & preferably without other animals so that he can relax into his home & live his best life. His past indicates that he would be fine with house visitors & meeting other animals on walks, but that he would be most comfortable in a home where his privacy is respected & no one spooks him into feeling defensive.

This breed has a very special coat that requires research & a lot of maintenance to upkeep properly. The uniqueness of owning a Puli can be very rewarding! There are only about 150 Puli dogs estimated in the USA. But their coat is very high maintenance. They are also a herding dog so their energy / training can be difficult as well. Marley is a bit older & more calm than a puppy would be. He doesn't require huge amounts of exercise but hopefully you can get an understanding of his mindset & stubbornness. I would recommend joining Puli groups on Facebook to find a good community of knowledgeable people.

Marley is currently available for meet & greets or potential same day adoption as long as you are prepared to bring him back for his vet apt. He is up to date & has an upcoming apt for his neuter. His adoption fee will be $650 which covers not only his medical expenses but also a donation to the rescue that helps with small animal vet needs & business costs as we are expanding this year to help more pets.

We are willing to work with out of state adopters for potential transport thru a third party like CitizenShipper. Owner will be responsible for booking, liability, and fees associated with transporters.
