Meet Marissa and Nina, a lovely pair of either siblings from the same home, or mom and pup. They appear to be Schnauzer/Miniature Pinscher or Schnauzer/Chihuahua mixes, possibly mixed with some Dachshund in there (Nina) and they weigh around 10 pounds. They were rescued from Tijuana. The caretakers were going to dump them far away, but the gardener got wind of this, so acquired the dogs and reached out Rescue, and we happily took these two sweethearts in!

Both dogs are super sweet, completely non-aggressive, very people-oriented and friendly, dog friendly, relatively easy, and also really smart! They are a wonderful pair of two dogs together and dogs are ALWAYS happier when they have another canine (and in my opinion easier to have two dogs because you are less stressed about when you have to leave). Both dogs love to follow me around, be near me when I am working in the office, and always wagging their tails or giving kisses. Marissa is most likely about 10-11 months, no more than a year, and Nina is about age two. Marissa has longer hair on her body and slightly longer legs and Nina has a shorter coat and shorter legs. Marissa looks a lot to Nina for her guidance and confidence, sometimes lagging back to wait on Nina’s lead, but both dogs are so smart they learned their new names, learned to navigate the dog door, learned to get up the pet steps to the human bed, all in one day; they catch on so quickly!

The dogs are crate-trained and sleep quietly in their little crates, side by side, at night (we crate rescued dogs to eat, sleep in crates and are crated if we are away from home. This is just part of their structure training while in rescue). They are also doing well in their potty reinforcement (of course, they’re taken out on a regular basis to a secured yard to do their business). Again, this is a smart pair that picked up the routine here quickly, and should do the same in a new home with some patience, love, and guidance, but Marissa still needs to build up some more confidence. With Nina by her side, all will be well!

Because of their coats, they may be on the lower spectrum of the shedding aspects. They were just transferred to a foster home that has kittens up for adoption, and they seem fine, licking the kittens in the face, but will obviously run after if they take flight which is normal. Marissa and Nina are very versatile dogs in that they can totally chill for hours if I am working on the computer, on a pet bed, or, they can run around the yard, have fun, explore, and occasionally play with each other.

The best home for Marissa and Nina is one where people want two little sweethearts, together, have had two dogs together in the past, or people who have the time to acclimate two dogs adopted together. They cannot be adopted together with the purpose of splitting them up later, even among extended family. Other dogs in the home would be fine, as long as the fit is there. (NOTE: All adopted dogs must be primarily indoors with outdoor access for play/potty - No dog can be excluded or left primarily to an outdoor area.)

Marissa and Nina are both spayed, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. They have been tick disease and heart worm disease tested, and the results were normal. The adoption fee for BOTH dogs together is: $350.00. If you are interested in sweet duo, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email.
