Mario's Story

Update:Mario has had his surgery. He did excellently! Although he looks a little like Frankenstein on his back hip, he hasn't bothered his stitches a bit! He is mobile and able to get around as good as before already. Soon he will be putting weight on that leg and using it to retain and build some muscle tone. Although it will never be 100%, he will have use of it and will not be in pain from using it ever again. Thanks to everyone that made a donation for his surgery! Mario has an adoption pending after about a month recovery, but we are still taking applications, just in case.
Update: MARIO just had a vet visit. An x-ray was done and we found out that MARIO has a fractured femur head. It was probably an old injury that he re-injured. He never received vet care for it and it must have been painful. Now he will have the required surgery! But, we are unsure if he will get to keep his leg. It will be a while before he will be ready to go to a new home, but we will continue to take applications. He is such a great dog that we want him to get the surgery he needs. He is on meds now so he is not suffering at all, but he would be a happier dog with all 4 legs I'm sure.
All of this extra vet care will not be added to his fee. If you would like to sponsor MARIO's surgery, please call the number given and you will be told how you can help! Without donations, we will not be able to continue to provide extra care that many of our rescued dogs need. Please give generously so we can provide the care needed to others like we will MARIO! All he really wants to do is sit by your side and give you kisses!

MARIO

MARIO certainly resembles his namesake! He looks like a cute, cartoony, Italian guy! He is a 3 year old Terrier mix. MARIO was surrendered to the shelter by his owner because of family health issues, and needs to find a new home.

MARIO was sad and confused at the shelter. He gets along well with kids, cats, and other (small) dogs. He is housetrained and would probably be well suited for any home or apartment. Could you be Mario's new forever friend?
MARIO will be up to date on all vet care, neutered, and microchipped when adopted. His adoption fee will be $150 to cover expenses.
Please email the address given to get an application for adoption. This begins the process. It is not a first come thing, but we try to match the family with the dog for a forever home!
