Meet Maribel

Beautiful Maribel is a Lab/Weimaraner mix, around 2 years old, weighing around 60 pounds. Through no fault of her own, Maribel's family has had a change in circumstances and is returning her to us to find her a new home.

Maribel is housebroken, crate trained and gets along with people and other dogs.  We hear that she enjoys playing fetch and enjoys being with her humans.

Maribel loves to be with her people and has been called a "velcro dog" which is a Weimaraner trait. In fact according to her family she acts more like a Weimaraner than a lab most often.

Maribel's information when she first arrived in foster care a year ago:

Foster Mom update- "Maribel has arrived in foster care in New Hampshire. She is not sure what to make of the cold ground, but she knows it has all kinds of good smells. She does very well sleeping in her crate at night, and is very smart. Within hours of arriving in her foster home, she learned sit as well as learning how to go up and down the stairs. She met a five year old in the pet store and was very gentle. She takes a treat very gently and is learning “off”. We are working on walking on a leash, but she is easily distracted with all the new sounds around her. She has only barked once and it was when she was ready to get out of her crate in the morning. She rides well in the car, but hasn’t figured out how to get into it yet....more car rides later to work on that. She will make a great addition to someone’s family!" Please send all inquiries and applications to hssc_ahr@yahoo.com.

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".

If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. **Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot.** Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $350 for dogs through 6 months of age, $300 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $275 for dogs 6 years and older; (for bonded pairs: $250.00/per dog). This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/erlichea test, worming and for imported dogs: transport on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption. Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net/adopt and can be e-mailed to adoptions_ahr@yahoo.com Click HEREto visit our site.
