Margot Hound & Labrador Retriever Mix Lenoir, NC

Margot was a beloved companion, but her exuberant nature kept knocking over the small children in her home. The family sadly realized keeping her separated so the children wouldn't be hurt was not fair to Margot.

With a birthdate in Nov. 2020, Margot weighs about 45 lb. She's affectionate and energetic.

Margot rides well in a car, but should be tethered to keep her out of the driver's lap. She greets other dogs enthusiastically, so is working on social skills. She is familiar with crates and is comfy in a 42". She's leash-savvy but will pull when excited. Margot is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule.

Margot is learning self-discipline and calming down now that she's in the home with other dogs to play with. She loves to play and will need an equally energetic doggy friend or an active family until she matures. We've seen a great deal of calmer behavior since she's been in foster care and able to burn off energy playing.

April 2020: We are not holding public adoption events until further notice. Qualified families are being invited to appointments to meet specific dogs. There are currently no opportunities to view multiple dogs and adoption events aren't being held at Tractor Supply in Lenoir.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be required if, using our veterinarian or same-day surgery, service is scheduled through our organization. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete.
