Meet Maple
Introducing Maple, a gorgeous chihuahua mix who is looking for a patient, loving forever home.
Maple was one of over 100 chihuahuas rescued from a severe hoarding situation in Central Texas. Despite this awful start to her life, Maple has emerged to become a playful and happy dog within the bounds of her comfort zone! She really lights up around other playful dogs her size but is still working on understanding human affection.
Maple has come on leaps and bounds since she was first rescued and we know that with the care of an experienced dog owner, she will be able to continue to thrive! She doesn’t yet take food from her human and doesn’t like to be picked up, but she does like to sit near her foster family and to snuggle up to their legs in bed, so she is comfortable in their space and is just mostly nervous of touches/being lifted. She is also completely comfortable playing with her foster dog siblings in the presence of her foster family, so she has absolutely learned that she can be herself in their presence.
Maple is an agile and playful little girl. She absolutely lights up around playful dogs of her size, it’s a beautiful thing to see! She becomes an energetic, rambunctious girl and loves to be chased by her doggie siblings. She has been friendly to all of the dogs that she has met. She has absolutely zero issues with dogs.
Maple is food motivated, which will help her to bond with her forever family. She enjoys chew toys, peanut butter lick pads, and health rawhide alternatives. We think that she would enjoy learning training commands with her forever family, which would also help her to bond with them!
Maple is around 1.5 years old and weighs 7 lbs. She could do well with children who understand boundaries, but we wouldn’t recommend a home with young kids due to her shyness. Maple generally potties outdoors, unless it’s raining!
Given her history, it makes sense that Maple can be a little shy with new humans so being calm during initial meetings will help her to feel more confident. A confident canine sibling in the home would be ideal! Apply today to meet this wonderful little girl!
